It’s the middle of July, we are sitting in our living room, and outside it’s raining “cats and dogs” while the thermometer reads 17 degrees celsius (which is about 63 degrees fahrenheit) and somehow it doesn’t feel like summer ought to feel…
This awful weather provides the perfect backdrop for allowing thoughts of far-away, more exotic places to form and take over the imagination; and this is a good thing as we are currently planning our next trip! This will be our first as a family of 3! That’s right, we are planning this trip with our baby boy. Together we will be travelling around the world as a family this time, yeah
After planning, scratching, and re-planning our route about five times now, we have finally come to what seems conclusive … at least at this point in time. We really are not a “build it and they will come” type of family, we are more of the “go out and you will find” mindset. “Why” you might ask? Well, the answer is really simple I guess. We just want to remain as flexible as possible and thus not necessarily set the duration of our stays “in stone” so to speak. I mean, what if we totally end up not liking a certain place, or on the other hand end up falling in love with another spot; maybe Louis doesn’t care for the food, or his Mommy gets too cold, or the weather simply isn’t favorable, or we suddenly decide to hurry home after the first week (haha), or or or … So we decided to map out our provisional dream-route and to then “take it as it comes.”
Who knows whom we will meet along the way, perhaps that changes the route along the way. Who knows exactly where God will lead us? Truth is, only God knows! Up to this point in our lives, God’s ways have been very good,
so we are gladly letting God take the lead yet again to lead us along a way only God knows. In the end, we are trusting God that things will work out. That being said, a few things must be planned ahead of time, so….
… we finally put together a tentative route for our trip:
We will head out mid-October:
- (1st stop) Bali
- New Zealand
and afterwards we still have
Fiji, Hawaii, U.S.A., Cuba and Jamaica on our minds… we will just have to wait and see. As has already been said: let’s not get ahead of ourselves; let’s keep our options open.
One thing is certain, starting mid-Oktober we will be posting periodical Trip Updates here. We’d love it if you’d join us in this way on our journey!
Much love, see you soon
